Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Plaistow
Man with Van Plaistow is committed to conducting its business ethically and responsibly. This Modern Slavery Statement outlines the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all staff, contractors, and suppliers engaged with our services.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We do not accept any practice that exploits individuals, undermines their freedom, or compromises their fundamental human rights. This applies to our own operations and to all parties who supply goods or services on our behalf.
All those working with or for Man with Van Plaistow are expected to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. We do not knowingly work with any organisation or individual who engages in, or is knowingly connected with, such practices. Where evidence of non-compliance is identified, we will take prompt and decisive action, which may include termination of contracts and reporting to relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man with Van Plaistow provides transport, removals, and related support services. Our supply chains include vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, and, on occasion, subcontracted labour and logistics partners.
We recognise that certain areas of the removals and transport sector can be vulnerable to exploitation, particularly where casual or temporary labour is used. We therefore seek to maintain oversight of our supply base and implement controls to reduce the risk of modern slavery occurring within our sphere of influence.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to uphold the same high standards that we set for ourselves. Before engaging new suppliers or partners, we consider their ethical standards, labour practices, and approach to human rights. Where appropriate, we ask suppliers to confirm that they comply with relevant legislation and that they do not tolerate forced or trafficked labour within their own operations or supply chains.
We reserve the right to request information from suppliers about their employment practices, including recruitment methods, use of agency or temporary staff, and measures in place to prevent exploitation. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to demonstrate adequate safeguards, we may choose not to proceed with or to discontinue the relationship.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
To support our zero-tolerance stance, we conduct proportionate audits and checks on selected suppliers, particularly those operating in higher-risk areas such as labour provision and manual handling services. These audits may involve reviewing documentation, requesting written assurances, and, where appropriate, on-site visits.
We monitor performance and behaviour over the duration of our relationships. Any indication that a supplier may be associated with modern slavery or human trafficking will trigger further investigation. Confirmed breaches will lead to corrective actions, up to and including the termination of contracts.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
We encourage all employees, contractors, suppliers, and customers to speak up if they have concerns or suspicions about modern slavery or human trafficking connected to Man with Van Plaistow or our supply chains. No individual who raises a concern in good faith will face retaliation or disadvantage for doing so.
Concerns can be raised directly with management, through internal reporting lines, or by using any designated whistleblowing procedures we operate from time to time. We treat all reported concerns seriously and, where appropriate, will investigate and take necessary action. Where there is a risk to individuals, we will act swiftly and may involve external agencies or authorities.
Training and Awareness
We promote awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and, where relevant, among regular contractors. Team members involved in procurement, supplier management, or recruitment are informed about the indicators of exploitation and the steps to take if they suspect abusive practices.
By increasing awareness and encouraging vigilance, we aim to reduce the likelihood that forced labour or trafficking can occur unnoticed within our operations or supply chains.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Man with Van Plaistow is committed to continual improvement in its approach to tackling modern slavery. We recognise that risks can change over time as our business and supply chains evolve. To ensure our measures remain effective and appropriate, this Modern Slavery Statement and our related procedures are reviewed at least once every year.
As part of the annual review, we assess our existing controls, feedback from staff and suppliers, and any incidents or concerns raised. Where necessary, we update our policies, strengthen our supplier requirements, and refine our training and audit processes. This statement is approved by the management of Man with Van Plaistow and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business.
